Mrs. Claus…. It’s time to Jamboree
It’s finally here! The Christmas Quilt Jamboree is a whimsical rhyming story that follows Mrs. Claus in her special responsibility to make the very first gifts of the season (Quilts) for the “nicest of the nice” kids on Santa’s list. Mrs. Clause picks the patterns and fabrics specifically for each child, and of course she stitches endlessly until they are all done... well, almost done. Each quilt is not truly complete until she and Santa tack on Stars from the Christmas Eve sky. Each star carries Santa and Mrs. Claus’s wishes for everlasting Peace and Christmas spirit.
I’ve long been a fan of gifting Quilts with Story books. The thought of the recipient and their family taking time out (especially during the busy holiday season) to get cozy and to connect with each other, turns gifts like these into traditions.
Now this is the part that gives goosebumps and chills
(And not from the cold, but from Heart-happy thrills)
Be a little Extra…
Adding a star to your quilted gift is a great way to say “You’ve been noticed—you’re one of the nicest of the nice on Santa’s list.”
Trace or draw a Star onto Fusible paper (I’ve used Steam-a-Seam).
I just printed my star from an image on the web and sized it to about 3”.
Fuse the star to your quilt.
Play around with the placement of your star until you are happy with it. Following the instructions on your fusible template, press the star to your quilt.
Stitch down your star.
You can use whatever stitch you like. I’ve used a straight stitch but a blanket stitch would look great too.
In this example I’ve used some 80wt Deco bob (DB115). You can match your thread or make it contrast for some oomph.
Quilt as desired
You are now ready to quilt your quilt. You can quilt right over the star or custom quilt around it.
I will even say that you can follow this same process on an already quilted quilt. I would recommend a straight stitch for star application as the stitches will be visible on the back of the quilt as well.
Wrap it up!
Don’t forget to check out our pattern for the “Once Upon a Quilt” gift Sack. A great way for your special kid to store their quilt and story together for enjoyment year after year.
This is a quick and easy make!
I hope you all enjoy personalizing and adding this special touch to your gifts this season. I’m looking forward to seeing all your makes on socials; please don’t forget to Tag #TheChristmasQuiltJamboree so we can all Jamboree together!
As they finish the last one they giggle with glee
“HO HO HO it’s begun” shouts Claus. “Yes-Siree!”
For this is the start, the very first clue,
That Christmas is coming, for me and for you!
P.S - Mrs. Claus is us…. We are all Mrs. Claus
